Last updated September 12, 2026

The Salisbury Symphony, Inc. (“the Symphony”, “we”, “us”) operates salisburysymphony.org and the Salisbury Symphony mobile application. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our mobile application, and our box office.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you create an account, buy tickets, buy a season pass, make a donation, sponsor a performance, sign up for a program, or contact us, we collect the information you provide. Depending on the activity this can include your name, email address, phone numbers, mailing address, birthdate, organization name, the name you would like printed in our programs, and any dedication or tribute text you choose to give us.

Account information. We do not use passwords. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email address or mobile number. We store the email address or phone number you use to sign in.

Transactional information. We keep records of your ticket orders, seats, season passes, redemptions, donations, sponsorship pledges, refunds and credits, together with amounts, dates and payment status.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. If you save a card for future purchases, the card itself is held by Stripe. We store only a reference to your Stripe customer record and limited details such as the card brand and last four digits. We never store your full card number. If you pay with Apple Pay, the payment is authorised by Apple and processed by Stripe.

Communications. We keep records of emails and text messages we send you, including delivery status, and messages you send us through our support and contact forms.

Forms, surveys and auditions. If you complete a survey, register for a program or camp, or sign up to audition, we collect the information those forms request, which may include information about a student or a guardian.

Device and usage information. If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can deliver them to your device. Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, which collect information about how visitors use our site.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • process orders, issue tickets and season passes, and admit patrons to performances;
  • process donations, sponsorships and recurring gifts, and issue tax receipts;
  • maintain your account and show your purchase and donation history;
  • send you transactional messages such as confirmations, tickets, receipts and reminders;
  • send you news, season announcements and fundraising appeals, where you have opted in;
  • provide customer service and respond to your enquiries;
  • keep financial and accounting records, meet our legal and tax obligations, and prevent fraud; and
  • understand how our website and services are used so we can improve them.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, and only as much as they need to do their work.

Those providers fall into these categories:

  • Payment processing — Stripe, Inc. processes card payments, saved cards and Apple Pay transactions;
  • Message delivery — providers that send our emails, text messages and mobile push notifications;
  • Hosting and storage — providers that host the Services and store uploaded files; and
  • Website analytics — providers that measure how our website is used.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of the Symphony, our patrons or others.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to measure how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies may prevent you from signing in or completing a purchase.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is open and for as long afterwards as we need it for the purposes described above.

Financial records are kept for longer. As a nonprofit organization we are required to keep records of ticket sales, donations and sponsorships, and we must be able to substantiate donations and reissue receipts. When you remove your account, your orders and donation history are retained for these purposes.

When your account is removed, we erase your contact details (email address, phone numbers, mailing address, birthdate and notes) and unlink the record from any login. What remains is a frozen record showing your name and your financial history. It is no longer attached to an account, no one can sign in to it, and it is not used to contact you.

Your choices and rights

Remove your account. You can close your account and erase your contact details from within the mobile application, under Account, then Remove Account. Before you confirm, we show you exactly what will be kept, what will be erased, which recurring gifts will be cancelled, and any unused passes or credits you will give up. We email you a confirmation afterwards. The option is also available on your account page on our website.

Marketing preferences. You can turn email and text message updates on or off at any time in your account settings, or by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send. Transactional messages, such as tickets and receipts, are not marketing and will still be sent while you have an account.

Access and correction. You can review and update your profile information in your account settings. You may also contact us to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to ask us to correct it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

Children

Our website and mobile application are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through them. Some of our education programs and camps accept registrations for students, which are made by a parent, guardian or adult participant. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information outside of that process, please contact us and we will remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and the use of established payment processors so that card details never pass through or rest on our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be communicated through our website or by email.
