The Salisbury Symphony is proud to partner with the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation to offer a week of string camp for beginners (Age 8 or older) at no cost to the participants.
Daily Instruction: Campers are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Non-beginners complete a short audition to determine playing ability/level. Each level receives instruction from qualified staff including professional symphony musicians and certified educators. All adults have passed a background check.
Daily Schedule: Each day begins with welcome and announcements, followed by the first rehearsal session. Instruction and rehearsal continue throughout the day with scheduled breaks for snack (provided), lunch (bring your own) and enrichment.
Enrichment Activities: A variety of activities gives campers a break from playing and may include a walking tour of Salisbury’s current public sculptures, a scavenger hunt, outdoor time to enjoy the playground or spend time with new friends, musical games and art projects, and a faculty concert.
Camp Concert: An end-of-camp concert presented by the campers provides an opportunity for family and friends to hear the young musicians’ accomplishments.
